From the Publisher: "A boy and his elephant escape into the jungle when the Viet Cong attack his village immediately after the Vietnam war." Publisher: Simon & Schuster, 2010, 216 pp.
This book brings the reader deep into the Vietnamese jungle and into the life of a young village boy. The boy feels his destiny is to love, raise and train elephants, but the Vietnamese War comes ever closer to the reclusive village, threatening to keep the boy from realizing his dream. The story is woven with imagery so real, you feel you have been in the jungle as the rifles crack nearby. Even a month after reading this compelling book, I still find myself musing about the choices the boy made when everything he loved came under attack.

ReplyDeleteIt is a great book. I love how the boy has such a close relationship with his elephant.
